Drag Show

7:30 pm

The University Union Ballroom

UNIQUE Programs at Sacramento State is pleased to announce a special inclusive drag show with RuPaul’s Drag Race cast member Shuga Cain on Thursday, October 24th at 7:30 pm. This FREE event takes place at 7:30pm in the University Union’s Ballroom.

Shuga Cain (born Jesus Martinez) appeared in the most recent season of RuPaul’s Drag Race. She was a director for media education for Scholastic and many other start-up businesses before beginning doing drag. However, Shuga Cain always knew the performance life was better suited for herself. Shuga did cruise line performances with Disney and did musical theatre earlier in life. Thus, Shuga came to the business world to make a living. She moved to New York and was approached by a tech company to do their media. She began making 6 figures, and was doing Pride concert performances on the side. Eventually, she came to the realization that drag was the type of performance and occupational lifestyle of preference in comparison to any kind of media and business work offered. Shuga started out doing drag at age 39. Now at 41 years old, she is the oldest drag queen to be on the RuPaul’s Drag Race series. For only being in the drag community for two years, Shuga Cain has truly made a big name for herself.

Opening guests include Pacifica Crimson and Mr. Gay Sacramento 2019- Ben Flicker.
