The University Union’s UNIQUE Programs, Sacramento is pleased to announce that graduate professor of education at UC Riverside, Dr. Tara J. Yosso, will speak about critical race theory on Sept. 22, at noon via live streamed Zoom call or join us in the University Union Redwood Room to view the live stream. Both are free and open to the public.

“We are so excited to have a prominent lecturer of critical race theory speak with our community,” said Ajamu Lamumba, the Programs Advisor for UNIQUE Programs.

Dr. Yosso’s lecture, titled, “Beyond Buzz Words: Critical Race Theory as a Tool for Reclaiming Our Past and Reshaping Our Future,” is free to the general public, and can be accessed via Zoom. The event will also be live streamed to University Ballroom III in the University Union.

Dr. Yosso is a two-time UCLA graduate, with a Ph.D. in Urban Schooling from its Graduate School of Education and Information Studies. Applying frames of critical race theory to her research, Dr. Yosso specializes in examining access to educational opportunities for Students of Color.

A Sac State parking permit is required to be displayed while parked on campus. You may only parking student parking spaces. To purchase a $7 daily (or $4 two-hour) parking permit:
•    Sign up for a PayByPhone account and download the app. When you arrive on campus, enter location number "5115" into the app to pay your parking fee.
•    When you arrive on campus, pay with cash or credit at any permit machine located in all student parking lots/structures. View the campus map for permit machine locations.

Your parking permit is only valid in student parking spaces. The closest parking to the University Union is Parking Structure II. Please view driving to campus and campus map for directions. A printable campus map is also available.
