Artist Statement
Our Voices Will Be Heard is a cathartic and healing experience and can provide space to address inner emotions and monologues for viewers and artists alike. This art exhibit is based on student-survivors experiences, narratives, and re-creations of representative art based on sexual and domestic assault survivors' stories of survival. This event occurs yearly during April, which is Sexual Assault Awareness Month. There are far too few people talking about a topic that impacts someone in America every 68 seconds. According to RAINN, 1 in every 6 women, 1 in every 10 men, and 21% of TGQN (transgender, genderqueer, nonconforming) college students. Here at Sac State, we support our survivors.
