Artist Statement

My work explores the process of change through movement; rising, falling, and growing along the way. I paint with heavy body acrylics and a palette knife in a textured floral style. Starting to create in my thirties allowed me to lift the layers of others’ expectations and choose my own path. The more time I spent creating, the better I felt. Soon the idea to make a living as an artist took root. I continued working as a scientist while quietly building my art business on the side. I ultimately made the leap to full-time artist and am enjoying this journey of endless possibility.

Process Blooms explores the experience of change; a process of unraveling and rebuilding. Change is an evolution that can be both exciting and disruptive. When you start something new, whether it’s a piece of art, or moving to a different city, you’ll likely experience highs and lows. The process of letting go to build something that is more you. The joy and discomfort in disruption is expressed in unruly florals trying to grow their way through it.
