Artist Statement

Kevin Wilhite, a Sacramento-based artist, draws inspiration from his rural Central Valley upbringing, where tractors and car shows left a lasting imprint on his artistic vision. Armed with a BS in Graphic Design from Sacramento State, Kevin's artistic journey has evolved over the years.

In 2013, he embarked on a vibrant painting series based on neon signs along Route 66, showcasing a well-defined and vivid style. Today, his artistic expression has transformed into a more relaxed approach, incorporating palette knife techniques and bold strokes, embodying elements of impressionism.

In his latest series featuring ice cream cones, Kevin collaborated with Gunther's Ice Cream, an iconic Sacramento shop. The partnership allowed him to capture the essence of each flavor through a unique photo shoot inside the store. The resulting paintings showcase Kevin's adept use of the palette knife to achieve a freshly scooped appearance, inviting viewers to savor the sweetness of his visual narrative.
