Artist Statement

Mario Estioko is an illustrator/graphic designer, as well as a seasoned faculty member of Sacramento State’s Graphic Design BFA Program. Though he’s a professor by day, he’s a cartoonist and table-top game creator by night. Humor and storytelling are Mario’s two great loves, and creating RUN! The Card Game has been a wonderful outlet to realize both passions. His greatest satisfaction is seeing friends and family bonding and laughing while playing one of his creations.

RUN! is the new all-ages card game that simulates the epic-ness of being chased by a 600-pound grizzly bear. You don't have to be the fastest when running from a humongous carnivore, just faster than the slowest person. 

Newly minted on Kickstarter, RUN! is a hilarious game of luck and strategy. One-hundred and four quirky cards determine your ability to outrun Mama Bear—or at least outrun the slowest hiker in your group. Escape with cards like: Sherpa Skills and Aerodynamic Yoga Pants. But beware of cards like: You Smell Like Chili and Untimely Butt Cramp. Sabotage other players with cards like: Meat Necklace and Chum Cologne. Put some zip into your abilities with the coveted Adrenaline card.

TOURNAMENT

RUN! is the hilarious new game that simulates you and your friends being chased by a ravenous grizzly bear. It's not about being the fastest person—just don't be the slowest. Game play and rules will be explained at the event. Winners will receive prizes.

Thursday, September 19 from 5:30–7:00 pm
The University Union, Orchard Suite, 2nd floor

Participants must be available for the duration of the event from 5:30–7:00 pm. Free to participate.
