Sacramento State’s University Union UNIQUE Programs, in collaboration with Associated Students Inc., Multi-Cultural Center and The Martin Luther King Jr. Center, are honored to announce a lecture from Michael Brown Sr., the father of Michael Brown who lost his life in the 2014 Ferguson Police Shooting. The event will take place on October 20th, 2016 at 7:30 PM at Sacramento States University Union Ballroom. This event is free for students and the general public.

On August 9, 2014, just eight days after his high school graduation, Michael Brown Jr. was shot six times by Officer Darren Wilson. He was pronounced dead on the scene. The unorthodox murder and disputed circumstances of the shooting of Mike Brown Jr. sparked strong protest from The Black Lives Matter Movement and its surrounding community.

Mike Brown Sr., has been motivated to use his tumultuous experiences to help others who have been affected by police brutality through his non-profit organization “Chosen For Change”. In just two years, Mike Brown Sr. has been able to make monthly visits to schools to motivate our youth, make annual retreats to men across the country who have lost a child, adopt families in inner city communities, create an annual three month season of giving, and provide bereavement services 48 hours after the loss of a child. The mission of Mike Brown Sr., is to provide fruition to the endemic acts of racism in America.

All ages permitted. No alcohol sold or permitted at venue.
