DESCRIPTION

Sacramento State’s The University Union UNIQUE Programs is pleased to announce a special event “Students Fight Back,” a workshop focused on providing students with valuable violence prevention skills on Thursday, October 15, 2015 at 7:30 pm. The workshop will be held at Sacramento State’s The University Union Ballroom. This event is free for students and the general public.

Students Fight Back is a program that first began in the effort to provide college students with valuable skills in self-defense and violence-prevention. The program began in the early 2000’s when Erin Weed wanted to immerse herself in training with the best violence prevention experts and self-defense trainings after the death of her close friend- Shannon McNamara.

By combining core values, a fun and empowering attitude, and the best safety and self-defense methods available, Students Fight Back was born.

The workshop will include lessons based on these key components:
•    Using your intuition
•    Safety tips – awareness, eye contact, verbal boundaries
•    The definition of consent
•    How to set boundaries that work for you
•    Verbal de-escalation skills
•    And many more.

All ages permitted. No alcohol sold or permitted at venue.
