Sacramento State’s University Union UNIQUE is pleased to announce a semester kick-off event featuring two local bands: Ideateam and Groovincible. The concert will be hosted at the University Union Serna Plaza on Wednesday, September 3, 2014 from 11:30 am- 1:30 pm. This event is free for students and the general public. Popcorn and Jamba Juice will be served for free during the event (while supplies last).

Ideateam is a local, Sacramento, funky psychedelic rock band. This band focuses largely on instrumentals that pull heavily from influences both new and old while still maintain a very unique and palatable character to call their own. The core rhythm section is paired with an outfit of horns, percussion, and vocals. Known for their energetic shows and curious disposition to always trying something new, it’s easy to get lost in their compelling interplay amidst live performances.

Groovincible was born out of a friendship created while the group’s founding members, Matt Klee (drums) and Jacob Gleason (saxophone), spent countless hours on the road together touring with local favorites ZuhG & Random Abiladeze. With an emphasis on part-writing, the musicians began piecing together the best moments of the recording and eventually (over the course of 2012) began to assemble them into songs and re-record them. Harnessing the talents of Tony Marks & Brian Rogers on bass, and Sam Phelps on Keys, Groovincible crafted their recordings carefully adding horn, string and vocal arrangements to fill out the sound.

A prize drawing for Beats by Dre headphones and other prizes will be happening throughout the event. Only current students of Sacramento State are eligible for the prizes. This event is co-sponsored with Associated Students, Inc. A-Team and the Green Army and in support of Hornet Weeks of Welcome.

All ages permitted. No alcohol sold or permitted at venue.
