Sacramento State’s The University Union UNIQUE Programs is pleased to announce a FREE special movie screening of X-Men: Days of Future Past on Thursday, September 4, 2014 starting 8:00 pm; ourdoors at The University Union Serna Plaza.

X-Men: Days of Future Past is a 2014 superhero film based on the fictional X-Men characters that appear in Marvel Comics. Directed by Bryan Singer, it is the seventh installment of the X-Men film series and acts as a sequel to both 2006’s X-Men: The Last Stand and 2011’s X-Men: First Class.

The ultimate X-Men ensemble fights a war for the survival of the species across two time periods in X-Men: Days of Future Past. The beloved characters from the original “X-Men” film trilogy join forces with their younger selves from X-Men: First Class, in an epic battle that must change the past – to save our future. In order to prevent a grim future in which mutants and their human sympathizers are systematically hunted and killed by towering, unstoppable robots called Sentinels, Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) travels back in time to change the course of history in this sequel.

That creative deficit is a major problem in this film, since it follows characters who travel in time to prevent a future apocalypse. Thankfully, there's just enough right in Days of Future Past to offset what's wrong. Director Bryan Singer's confident direction mostly compensates for familiar comic book movie problems, including bald expository dialogue and forgettable action. The storytelling has such momentum that you don't have time to realize that the story lacks urgency.

X-Men: Days of Future Past will be screened outdoors at Sacramento State’s The University Union Serna Plaza on Thursday, September 4, 2014; starting at 8:00 pm. Admission is FREE for students and the general public.

All ages permitted. No alcohol sold or permitted at venue.
